So, what’s your ‘end’? Reinvestment, social enterprise, shareholders, quality of life, community support, world domination?
Our perception of money: what it stands for and what it can do, dominates our lives. It is the medium by which we operate as businesses and most often is the measure of our ‘success’ – a success that won’t look the same for everyone.
What is true for all of us is that our understanding of money and how it works for us has a big impact on the way we run our businesses and lives.
Is money something that is a tool to be exploited or a resource to be guarded? Is money something you deserve, or to be rationed – dependent on your own understanding of achievement?
A great deal of how we manage our finances is based on what’s going on in our heads. A spreadsheet can report the toing’s and froing’s of the pounds and pence; company accounts can outline how a company has managed it’s affairs throughout the year, yet the decisions around how our businesses have arrived at that point are not noted.
The answers about how to create and grow a good business will never be found on a spreadsheet.
The answers lie in us.
How many of us allow fear of the unknown to hold back our ambition? The fear of putting faith in our own expertise and experience to forge ahead with plans to expand our horizons?
When you know WHY you do it, WHO is important and HOW you can do it better than anyone else, then you’ll find your means to your end.
“Empty pockets never held anyone back. Only empty heads and empty hearts can do that.”
Dr Norman Vincent Peale (1898-1993) author of ‘The Power of Positive Thinking’
